Karl has been a committed follower of Christ for over 40 years, speaking publicly for over 36 years, and a pastor for over 32 years. Karl's mission is "To inspire a spiritual revolution in the church that reaches the world." His love for the gospel and belief in God's ability to change lives is grounded in truth and experience. His strong family values and wide range of life experiences have shaped his heart for the Lord and his passion for ministry.
Karl was born and raised in Alaska. He completed the 1,100-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race at the age of 18. He was changed by God forever on Feb. 11th, 1984. Karl received a B.S. in Biblical Studies degree from Multnomah University in 1989.
Over the years of ministry, Karl has coached a multi-racial track team in South Africa, launched two college/career ministries that grew rapidly and thrived spiritually, spoke nationally at marriage conferences with Family Life for 11 years, and led a dynamic church that grew to be the largest in the state of Alaska. This church was featured on the front page of the New York Times (Nov. 23rd, 2007) for its strategic outreach and innovation.
Karl is currently the weekday morning host on Moody Radio's "Karl & Crew," a nationally syndicated radio program heard across the country on Moody Radio affiliates. He is also the Lead Pastor at 180 Chicago Church. He is the author of The 7 Resolutions – Where Self-Help Ends and God’s Power Begins. Karl’s newest book is Killing Sin: Conquer that One Thing that is Defeating You.
Karl and his bride, Junanne, have been married for 37 years and have two adult children.
