COmmunity Event

Brent Gin was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He has lived in the South Loop area for most of his life, attending both church and school there. At a young age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and enjoyed serving and helping others.

In high school, he first began volunteering at the Urban Christian Academy, an afterschool educational program in Chicago’s Bridgeport area, tutoring 2nd and 3rd graders. At UCA, he discovered a heart for young people and a passion for helping them. In college, he tutored middle schoolers, and continues to do so even after graduating. In addition to serving on 180 Chicago's staff, he serves at UCA as an Instructional Aid for the middle school students to this day.

He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering, before accepting a different calling that led him to transfer to Calvin University. He graduated in the spring of 2023 with a degree in Data Science.

In 2023, he became a counselor for Summit, a Friday night youth group for middle and high schoolers sponsored by a Bridgeport area church. He has found great joy to be able to provide a positive environment to those unfamiliar with the church.

In his free time, he enjoys talking about fish (and fishing), keyboards, and tennis. He also loves playing board games and discovering new ones.
